Twelve Welsh tech start-ups set to deliver £100m by 2020

From tracking humanitarian aid to driving global beauty sales, the new Welsh tech attracting international attention.




Twelve of Wales’ brightest tech start-ups are on track to deliver a combined turnover of over £100 million a year by 2020.


The businesses are all part of this years’ ‘digital dozen accelerator programme’ run by Innovation Point. Innovation Point is the new digital innovation company for Wales, providing the expertise and market understanding of innovation funding needed to turn Welsh technological capability into ground-breaking solutions for clients worldwide.


Collectively, these 12 tech firms aim to employ over 300 staff by 2020. Their collective technologies are designed to transform companies and the lives of consumers worldwide. The start-ups are already working across globe winning contracts and partnerships in China, South Africa, Kenya, Brazil, Europe and the USA.


Putting their pitching and presenting skills to the test, eight of the ‘Digital Dozen’ businesses will take part in an investor showcase event at the London Stock Exchange on November 2nd, showcasing the potential of their ideas and their vision of how their products will become global game changers. Each will be pitching to a room of potential investors, one of whom they hope will invest in them and their business idea.


These Digital Dozen businesses are disrupting humanitarian aid, global beauty, banking, retail, property and more.


Brands include:


§ Disberse, a fund management platform built for the global development sector, Disberse can track the distribution of humanitarian aid ensuring it is used for the intended purpose and reducing fraud and corruption. Already operating on an international scale with a network of leading charities, the implications of this much needed technology on the aid sector are huge.


§ Simply Do Ideas, a business that makes entrepreneurship accessible to everyone through the use of technology that enables people to build and test their business ideas. Creating a safe environment for existing businesses and budding entrepreneurs to test new ideas is key to ensuring innovation.


§ University Cribs, a student property search engine simplifying the process for students to find accommodation. University Cribs is the first property portal solely focussed on student accommodation and the first to show properties in virtual reality.


§ Dashhound, a dashboard that connects users social accounts and enables them to track and purchase products used by their favourite beauty influencers. The global beauty business is set to reach $675billion by 2020 and Dashhound aims to be the single main driving force behind on and offline beauty sales.

· ThinkProductivity Ltd – the team behind iMindMap and DropTask, ThinkProductivity Ltd create intuitive technologies that facilitate and enhance creativity, innovation and productivity.

· Properr – develop integrated technology solutions for the property industry. Flagship product Track My Move simplifies how people buy residential property, reduces ‘fall throughs’ and radically improves processes.

· Disberse – a fund management platform built for the global development sector. Disberse drives efficient and effective delivery of development and humanitarian aid.

· DashHound – connects users social accounts, allowing them to track and purchase products used by their favourite beauty influencers via a bespoke online dashboard.

· Prizsm – rethinking and re-engineering conventional data protection to offer total data security, privacy, control and multi-cloud orchestration.

· Simply Do Ideas – provide a quick, simple way for people to build and test their business ideas, aiming to create a more enterprising and innovative society for all.

· Talkative – allows users to convert website visitors into paying customers, using voice, video, chat and co-browsing.

· Geolang – the software development company specialising in the cyber security and business resilience market. Geolang offer users advanced, content-aware Information Management solutions.

· Do-IT Solutions – a specialist IT company providing a modular, accessible online assessment and monitoring system. It’s aim is to empower individuals to access education and employment.

· University Cribs – understanding the difficulty of finding and securing student accommodation, University Cribs strives to make house-hunting a stress-free task for students.

· Zone Art Networks – a unique solution to the problem of locating users and objects in space-time using its Follow Spot solution, requiring only a single access point.

· Codeherent – its mission is to enable organisations to quickly and easily develop their ideas into palpable business outcomes
