It’s no secret, Digital Tuesday is the place to talk tomorrow’s world, just ask any of the tech-setters signed up to tonight’s sold out session. Sounding out solutions, finding funds to scale up and solving industry problems together.
Innovation Point’s Digital Tuesday has supported the journey of businesses across industry verticals since 2014, holding 20 events and attracting thousands of attendees. More than a techy get-together, Digital Tuesday is a community, a cluster, a movement making waves in the tech scene.
Events have shared the skinny on trending topics, journeying from the final frontier of Space Tech, via mapping and geo data visualisation, IoT, smarter cities, 5G and the future of entertainment. Consistently delivering industry insights from the who’s who in tech, our alumni of speakers boast ‘The Man Who Saved the BBC’ Anthony Rose and social media maverick David Hieatt, founder of the encouragement network Simply Do Lectures.
Representing a cross-section of the whole tech ecosystem, Digital Tuesday attracts founders, funders, entrepreneurs, developers, media, CTOs and CMOs from some of Wales and the West’s most exciting companies. We are joined by Welsh Government and local authorities, capital funders, and large corporates such as Admiral, Airbus and IQE, alongside an audience of some of the country’s most disruptive start-ups.
On a mission to match the brightest SMEs with capital investors eager to fund their potential. All sharing a space with others who’ve been through the funding process. In essence, a room full of the right contacts.
Innovation Point works at the cutting edge of technology development and at the heart of the investment community, matching the right organisations with the right opportunities. We make it easier to build partnership collaborations which secure the funding needed to transform business ideas into commercial reality. A partner who stands shoulder to shoulder helping you to drive the next wave of growth.
David Warrender, CEO of Innovation Point said: “Our raison d'être is to help companies capitalise on Wales’ growing market potential, whether that be securing investment for growth, accessing new markets or augmenting their brand awareness on a global scale. Innovation Point offers the expertise and support that can help turn their tech talent into business success, with Digital Tuesday bringing people together to find the contacts and funding to make it happen.’’
In January 2015 the organisation of Digital Tuesday was handed over to Innovation Point who have now reached their twentieth session milestone, but the story began as the passion project of a few rogue tech enthusiasts.
Mark Waite, one of the founding protagonists of Digital Tuesday and managing director of Cohesive Communications said: “Digital technologies are disrupting and transforming the way we do businesses. The democratisation of technology has wrestled market power away from the few and put it in the hands of the many. The little guys with the big ideas could now take on the status quo and win! David slaying Goliath all over again. This was the inspirational drive behind Digital Tuesday. To help create a nation of Digital Davids.
I’d realised that for 20 years I’d been helping US tech companies establish a presence in the UK/EMEA marketplace, from a business based in Wales. But we’d never had a gig from a Welsh business to help them grow and expand into international markets. So, in the summer of 2014 myself and a few other crazy dancers attempted to start a movement to help Welsh innovators, creators, makers and upstarts take advantage of the growing digital revolution. Four years on and Digital Tuesday is as relevant today as it’s ever been and continues to play a vital role in reinforcing Wales’ growing reputation as a tech and digital destination. Fuelled by the growing digital community across Wales and driven by a clear purpose to deliver economic prosperity Digital Tuesday is a movement with a cause and I’m proud to have been one of the crazy dancers.”
Tonight in the Chairman’s lounge at Cardiff City Stadium, our session brings an unrivalled opportunity to offer up new technology solutions to the defence and security sector, with The Defence and Security Accelerator (DASA) introducing their funding competition.
Whatever arena of digital innovation you are in, health-tech, IoT, big data, cyber security, you may be at concept stage or more advanced in the development of your technology, DASA is excited to meet you. You might not think it, but your invention could just have an application you have not even considered yet.
Missed tonight’s opportunity but keen to get involved? Get in touch with a topic you want us to tackle or idea you believe could add value to our community, we’d love to hear from you! email@example.com
